| Founded over 100 years ago the LSTPA is one of the oldest clubs in Ireland. We promote anlging for trout particularly fly fishing. We have an active youth section and in conjunction with local fishey staff we have run numerous youth angling events. We are also involved in an eduaction centre where young people can see trout hatching out and can release trout into local streams. We are actively involved in highlighting the problems of pollution in Lough Sheelin. |

| The DPA was set up in 1986 with a view to changing the way pike competitons were conducted. At that time many clubs held dead weigh-ins whereby all pike caught during the competition were killed and brought to the weigh-in point, usually the pub. The DPA aimed to change this practice, and over the following couple of years most other clubs in the country followed suit. |
