Trout averaging close to 1lb, pike on lower sections,
this is a wild trout fishery which permits coarse and pike fishing all
year, suitable in the lower and deeper sections of river.
SIZE LIMIT: 10
inches.
DAILY BAG LIMIT: 3 trout
(applicable from 2010)
ANGLING METHODS:
Artificial fly, spinning and worms only, bank fishing only.
COARSE FISHING: Permitted, all year round subject
to regulations, best lower deeper sections of the river.
PIKE FISHING: Permitted, all year round
subject to regulations, best lower deeper sections of the river.
ACCESS: Access is
difficult and care is advised.
FACILITIES: Open Bank
fishery.
PERMISSION TO FISH: This fishery is
part of Inland Fisheries Ireland's 'Midland Fisheries Group'
of managed waters and anglers require a fishing permit (ticket
charge) to fish here.

FISHERY DESCRIPTION: The Shiven River is a rich limestone
water with fair stocks of wild brown trout. Fish average 0.75lbs but
trout to 4lbs are sometimes caught.
