ESTABLISHMENT OF INLAND FISHERIES IRELAND - SEE PRESS RELEASE DATED JULY 1st, 2010

OPEN SEASON March 1st - September 30th.

SPECIES: Brown Trout averaging about 1lbs and larger.

SIZE LIMIT: 8 inches River Shannon Ref: Bye Law No: 817, 2007.

DAILY BAG LIMIT: Not Applicable.

ANGLING METHODS: All legal methods.

ACCESS: From Dublin heading to Carrick-on-Shannon you exit the N4 for Drumsna/Jamestown. The access to the river is via a stile at the weir.

FACILITIES: Open bank

PERMISSION TO FISH: Not required but please observe our country code

FISHERY DESCRIPTION:  This section of river can produce good trout with sizeable fish present. The best places are downstream of the weir.  In the past wild brown trout up to 15lbs  have been recorded.

Please Observe Our Country Code and Fisheries Laws.

Anglers are requested to always observe our country code

  • Seek permission from landowners before crossing private lands or property

  • Do not park cars in fields except where permission is granted and it is safe to do so.

  • Leave no litter

  • Keep our countryside clean

Normal access is over footbridges and stiles or where public access is provided.
