our midland managed trout lakes. The Mc Entyre Guider Cup

well. The national qualifier was fished on Owel on Saturday

Week ending 27th
September, 2009
Lough Owel is fishing
very well, best time late evening from 6pm onwards.
Fishing an intermediate sink line using regular Owel
wetflies appears to be getting the desired result.
The I.T.F.F.A. national qualifier was fished on Owel
on Saturday last 26th of September 2009. 129 anglers
entered the event. 123 anglers turned up to fish on
the day. The was a very good result with 59 anglers
weighing in 163 fish for a total weight of 247lbs.
Colm Cahill, Mullingar was the winner with the
heaviest bag of 7lbs 9ozs. Mick Mc Cormack was
second with a bag weight of 7lbs 7ozs. Even though
angling conditions on the lake were not ideal on the
day, the result was still very good. Prospects look
promising for the next few days.
