LOUGH O'FLYNN & UPPER RIVER SUCK

REPORT BY GERRY MARKHAM, BALLINLOUGH & DISTRICT ANGLERS.

Photo: Some of the young anglers with their parents and the senior anglers who took them fishing on Saturday on Lake O Flynn.

Saturday October the 10th saw the wind up of activities of the trout fishing season for 2009 on Lough O Flynn by Ballinlough & District Angling Club who hosted a competition for junior anglers on the lake. The weather was more generous than the fish on the day, but nevertheless a great time was had by all twenty young anglers and their organisers. Once again our gratitude goes to The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board for their wonderful co-operation, not just on Saturday, but throughout the year. The generosity of our senior anglers, in terms of their time and the passing on of their wonderful experience and skill to our young anglers, cannot be exaggerated. The future of angling on Lough O Flynn is now more assured than ever. The Angling Club will now take a well earned break for the next few months before preparations for the new season start.
