LOUGH OWEL A HOT SPOT
THIS WEEK WITH SOME VERY GOOD FISHING REPORTED AS THE SEASON
ADVANCES
We are now moving
into the last week of the game angling season. Most fisheries will
close on September 30th with the exception of some of our midland
lakes fisheries which continue to October 12th. Anglers fishing
Sheelin are still getting some quite good fishing with dry sedges
working well. Lough Owel fished very well with over 140 fish
returned for the week. Salmon fishing has slowed down on the River
Feale with water levels back to normal and the bright conditions
proved unsuitable for daytime fishing. Some Salmon were reported on
the Mulcair. There's plenty of Salmon distributed along both rivers
after all the high water of the past weeks.

reported seeing quite a few Salmon along the
river which is good news.
CAMCOR RIVER BIRR
River levels are back to normal with
some night fishing reported. It's been getting cold at night time
reminding us that autumn is with us as we enter the last week of
the season.
LOWER SHANNON AREA

There are lots of Salmon
distributed along all the pool up to Abbeyfeale.
Water levels and the bright conditions are
proving unsuitable for angling of late.
Anglers request
that the River Smearlagh be closed for angling to assist fish stock recovery
as a result of the severe damage to salmon and sea trout stocks
caused by the major landslide last weekend in the headwaters of the Glashoreag and Smearlagh Rivers in the Feale catchment.
Following general support
by the angling community and the ShRFB a
Bye-law has since been brought in and provides for the prohibition on angling for any kind of fish
in the Rivers Smearlagh
and Glashoreag commencing on
4 September 2008 to the end of the season (30 September 2008).
