A FEW SPRING SALMON ARE STARTING
TO APPEAR ON THE LOWER SHANNON IN ARTIC CONDITIONS
Water conditions are ideal for salmon
fishing in the Limerick area at time of
writing but get out the woollies as a biting cold north easterly air stream
from continental Europe brings in snow showers and is forecast to
continue for several days to come. Salmon are starting to run the
Shannon with Plassey and the River Fergus Co Clare featuring in our
recent catch reports. The trout fishing season on most of the
Board's fisheries and the salmon fishing season on the River Feale
in Co Kerry opens on Tuesday next March 1st . We hope to
have plenty of news from anglers in the coming
weeks, so keep posted! TIGHT LINES!

The 2005 Allianz Direct Boat Show is
taking place in the RDS Simmonscourt from Wednesday
23rd February - Sunday 27th. More than 200 exhibitors will
display the latest in sailing craft including angling boats. I
have being told there is everything from a €50 lifejacket
to a 1 million Sunseeker Manhattan "powerboat". More info on

John Burton Limerick reports his first salmon of
the season.
The Salmon fishing season opened on February 1st on
the River Maigue, Fergus and Lower Shannon. No salmon were reported in the
opening few days. More recently we have reports in of 5 fresh fish
from the River Fergus in Ennis and John Burton from Limerick had this
lovely fresh salmon of over 11lbs on the Shannon at Plassey
in Limerick.
