A FEW SPRING SALMON ARE STARTING TO APPEAR ON THE LOWER SHANNON IN ARTIC CONDITIONS

Water conditions are ideal for salmon fishing in the Limerick area at time of writing but get out the woollies as a biting cold north easterly air stream from continental Europe brings in snow showers and is forecast to continue for several days to come. Salmon are starting to run the Shannon with Plassey and the River Fergus Co Clare featuring in our recent catch reports. The trout fishing season on most of the Board's fisheries and the salmon fishing season on the River Feale in Co Kerry opens on Tuesday next March 1st . We hope to have plenty of news from anglers in the coming weeks, so keep posted!  TIGHT LINES!

Now that have started a new angling year, we ask anglers to consider your own safety while boating or fishing on lake or river. Please logon to the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources website dedicated to water safety at  http://www.safetyonthewater.ie We have published our angling roundup in respect of Salmon Fishing for the past year, the trout fishing annual report will feature soon.
