ESTABLISHMENT OF INLAND FISHERIES IRELAND - SEE PRESS RELEASE DATED JULY 1st, 2010

OPEN SEASON: March 1st - September 30th.

SPECIES: Brown Trout averaging 1lbs to 2lbs.

SIZE LIMIT: 10 inches.

DAILY BAG LIMIT: Not Applicable.

ANGLING METHODS: All legal methods.

ACCESS: There are two access points to lower Lough Gara, one on the southern and one on the northern shores of the lake.

FACILITIES: Lake fishery, boats via slipway and ample car parking is available at both access points.

PERMISSION TO FISH: Not required  but please observe our country code.

Please Observe Our Country Code and Fisheries Laws.

Anglers are requested to always observe our country code

  • Seek permission from landowners before crossing private lands or property

  • Do not park cars in fields except where permission is granted and it is safe to do so.

  • Leave no litter

  • Keep our countryside clean

Normal access is over footbridges and stiles or where public access is provided.
