ESTABLISHMENT OF INLAND FISHERIES IRELAND - SEE PRESS RELEASE DATED JULY 1st, 2010

OPEN SEASON: March 1st  - September 30th.

SPECIES: Brown Trout averaging 0.5lb to 1lb.

SIZE LIMIT: 20cm (8 inches) River Shannon Ref: Bye Law No 488, 1954. 

DAILY BAG LIMIT: Not Applicable.

ANGLING METHODS: All legal methods.

ACCESS: Access is good from all road bridges.

FACILITIES: Open Bank, IFI has erected access stiles and footbridges where necessary.

PERMISSION TO FISH: Not Required, please observe our country code .

FISHERY DESCRIPTION: The Breedoge and its tributaries flow from Bellanagare (North Roscommon)  to the  north east of Frencpark and on into Lough Gara at Kingsland. The best pools for fishing are upstream and downstream of the public roadway (R361) to the northeast of Frenchpark.

Anglers are requested to always observe our country code

  • Seek permission from landowners before crossing private lands or property

  • Do not park cars in fields except where permission is granted and it is safe to do so.

  • Leave no litter

  • Keep our countryside clean

Normal access is over footbridges and stiles or where public access is provided.
