ESTABLISHMENT OF INLAND FISHERIES IRELAND - SEE PRESS RELEASE DATED JULY 1st, 2010

OPEN SEASON: March 1st  - September 30th.

SPECIES: Wild Brown Trout averaging close to 1lb with much larger specimens possible.

SIZE LIMIT: 20cm (8 inches) Ref: Bye Law No: 817, 2007.

DAILY BAG LIMIT: Not Applicable.

ANGLING METHODS: All legal methods.

ACCESS: At a number of local road bridges and the town park in Boyle.

FACILITIES: Open Bank fishery.

FISHERY DESCRIPTION: The Boyle river flows from Lough Gara though Lough Key and enters Lough Eidin  (Drumharlow). This a very rich river which holds good stocks of wild brown trout,  The best pools are downstream of the town of Boyle towards Lough Key.

  • Seek permission from landowners before crossing private lands or property

  • Do not park cars in fields except where permission is granted and it is safe to do so.

  • Leave no litter

  • Keep our countryside clean
