Pike Angling report - Shannon River Basin District

Dated Wednesday September 15th, 2010

BIG PIKE ANGLING EVENTS TO COMMENCE THIS WEEK AT KILLALOE

There were very few pike fishing reports received. Visiting anglers had some success on the Shannon around Shannonbridge. In the news are the details for the upcoming Pike Fly competition which will be fished next Saturday September 18th on Lough Derg. Anglers interested in fishing this competition can still book a place. Similarly, those interested in the European Pike Angling Challenge can also book a place - see main report for details.  Bodo Funke of Angling Services Ireland, Boyle has started the autumn Piking season  with 10 fish reported caught, best fish 92cm. There has been a lot of rainfall in the past two weeks and some areas in the Shannon system are flooded, including the River Suck. Better weather is on the way.   TIGHT LINES!

Upper Shannon & Lakes Boyle

Finally we could wait no longer and have started the autumn Pike season last weekend.

The first morning session brought 10 pike to the boat, biggest 92cm. All fish came to Buster jerks, we also had a lot of missed takes. Nice start of the autumn season and things are looking good. The rain of the last few days topped the system up nicely, let's just hope there won't be too much more rain for a while.
