Coarse Angling & Fisheries News Update

 COARSE FISHING GRADUALLY PICKING UP AS TEMPERATURES IMPROVE AND THE DAYS LENGTHEN

Water levels are very low in the Shannon as we write. It's only now that anglers are even thinking about coarse fishing as spring eventually arrives!. Paul Waghorn will be  be reporting on the fishing at Lanesboro and also the River Inny down to Tommy Foxes, so watch out for these reports from now on. Fishing has picked up a little at Lanesborough with mixed fish to 12ozs being reported . A party had good mixed fishing also in the mid River Suck, mostly hybrids and quality Roach. Cuisle Holiday Centre announce details of local angling competitions and holiday breaks in the River Suck Valley for anglers with disabilities. They have specialist facilities for those interested, see main report.     TIGHT LINES!

UPPER SHANNON

REPORT FROM LANESBORO

Paul Waghorn will be reporting twice weekly from April into May for the Shannon at Lanesborough and the Lower Inny down to Tommy Foxes.

March 19th,- Despite trying every couple of days or so, Peter has had just one bite on the river since last September. He caught a small Trout recently. Better news from Lanesborough, one session produced a small mixed bag of fish to 12oz last week.

MID SHANNON AREA

The ShRFB reports for Ray Duthie Old Forge Banagher, Bait Stockist, Tackle and ACCOMMODATION PROVIDER  Tel: 057 9151504.  BANAGHER area this week.
 
Water levels are very low, summer level on the Shannon around Banagher. Coarse fishing is gradually picking up as temperatures improve and the days lengthen.

ShRFB reports for the RIVER SUCK VALLEY - Mid River Suck

A party of 6 anglers fished in the mid River Suck. They had bags from 12kg to 17kg, with good hybrids and good quality Roach. Two anglers fished Donamon and reported fishing as slow.

Cuisle Fishing Breaks 2010 announce a number of competitions on the River Suck for people with disabilities. The dates are

  • Friday & Saturday 2nd and 3rd of April (Easter)

  • Monday to Friday 6th-10th September

  • Monday to Fri - 4th to 8th of October

  • Monday to Friday breaks include 2/3 days fishing.

Entry fee for competitions is €15.00. You will receive expert advice from their highly qualified angling instructor Bill Cassidy.
