Bog Lake has an area of 20 acres, located half a mile from Dromod and 7 miles from Carrick on Shannon. It has all the usual coarse fish but is better known for its tench fishing with fish to about 4lbs. Other species present are bream to about 3lbs, hybrids, roach and rudd. It is regarded as a good pike lake especially during the winter. The lake has a fairly uniform depth of about 6 feet on the East (fishable) side, shallower on the west side.

FACILITIES AND ACCESS

Most of the access and fishing is on the east bank. To get to the waters edge requires a 50 meter walk where there are 10 pegs both to the left and right of the path on nice clean banks with plenty of water lilies along the margins. The west side has a path which is about half a mile walk to the waters edge on that side. The Shannon Fisheries Board has access foot bridges on both sections.

TO GET THERE

The lake is sign posted from the N4 road. Taking Carrick on Shannon as the starting point, you travel south east on the N4. You continue for about 7 miles along this road in the direction of  Dromod, turn left at a large feed mill onto a local road. Continue for a kilometre and turn right. onto another narrow bog road and continue until to see the access stiles which will be located on your right hand side.  This is your access to the lake.
