THE
FISHERY

Boyle river (Drumbridge)
This is a very good area 1.5 miles
northeast of the town of Boyle. The area can produce very good bags of
Bream in May and also holds good stocks of
roach and Hybrids. The new canal enters the river downstream of this
area and the angling is improving along this section of water.
Facilities and Access: The
Shannon Fisheries Board has 3 single stands along the soft bank.
The Board have erected a number of access
stiles and footbridges along the southeastern bank.
Boyle river (Knockvicar)
Knockvicar is a village 4 miles to
the northeast of Boyle accessed via the N4. The Boyle river flows
though the village and this section of river holds good stocks bream
to 5lbs roach and hybrids. This section of river has holes of 15 feet
deep which you can fish into.
Facilities and Access: The
Shannon Fisheries Board have a number of
access stiles and footbridges along this section.
Boyle river Cootehall
Cootehall is a small village 6
miles to the northeast of Boyle accessed via the N4. The Boyle river
flows though the village. Fishing is
upstream or downstream of the bridge and there are good stocks of
bream, roach, hybrids and rudd to 2 lbs.
Facilities and Access: The
Shannon Fisheries Board have access stiles and three concrete stands
along this section of river.
To get there
Drumbridge: From Boyle take the old Sligo
road west past the GAA football pitch, turning right into Drumbridge.
Knockvicar: Take the N4 east out of Boyle for about 4 miles, take a left
into the village of Knockvicar. Coothall: Same as Knockvicar.
