THE
FISHERY

The Lung River is 18 miles long rising to
the west of Ballaghadeareen, emptying into Lough Gara - north of the town. In
the lower reaches it is regarded as a very good coarse fishery for roach up to 2lbs, rudd, hybrids and produces large pike to 25lbs+.
There are some Bream present. There are also
trout present. Depths here vary from 3ft to 16ft. On the upper sections water is
much lighter at depths of only between 2ft to 4ft.
FACILITIES AND ACCESS
There is very good public access,
developed venues by the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board which include car parking, fishing stands, stiles, boat slipway and has a
wheelchair stand. The wheelchair stand is located over a mile or so to the south
east of Ballaghadeareen.
TO GET THERE
From Ballaghadeareen travel south east for 1
mile to Aughalustia Bridge and the venue is adjacent to the road here.
