THE
FISHERY

Cloonaugh Lake is about 500 acres in area
located 5 miles from Ballaghadeareen. This is a noted pike fishery renowned for
its very large pike to 20lbs+. It is shallow ranging from 2ft to 5ft in
normal conditions and tends to weed up in the summer months making angling
difficult at this time of year. Other species include perch, roach.
FACILITIES AND ACCESS
Public access, Boat launching for pike
fishing is possible along the shore. No shore fishing facilities are developed
and is a very remote venue.
TO GET THERE
From Ballaghadeareen take the R293 out of
town travelling south for about 2 miles, cross over Crenaun bridge, turn right for
Lisacul crossroads, continue for about 1 mile after the crossroads, turn right
before the next bridge, follow the narrow road for about 4 miles which leads
directly into the lake.
